A trivial question for a Sunday afternoon if I may...

Is there an established brand/manufacturer of frames that I might reasonably expect to produce a consistent product over years? I'd like to maximise my chances of buying a frame in 5 years time that's the same as one I can buy today, in order to ensure uniformity of presentation.

Thank you in advance.

You're not going to like it...Ikea!
There are probably better options, but they're not going to go bust any time soon wink

I get all my mounts (not frames) delivered from Cotswold mounts and have done for many, many years, so they are a good bet for long term colour match.

Most of the frames in my house are IKEA Ribba frames. However, they are slightly strange sizes/aspect ratios.

Have a look at neilsen frames, I have a few in my garage and we also use them at work, they seem good.

Ikea's are a nightmare size but you can order different sized mounts if you hunt around.

They do change the designs from time to time, though. I bought two of the same design but found one to be of a different shade of black to the other. Must have been phasing one style out at the time. Worth looking out for!

Thank you - this is exactly what I would like to avoid!

Thank you to all of the earlier posters for taking the time to respond also. I'm not sure there's a simple answer to this...

I'm not exactly clinically OCD but I nearly ground my teeth to nothing when I realised.

Thankfully I found space in another room for one frame by itself, and bought second (in the new tone) to pair the remaining frame.

It shouldn't be a big deal because they're only pennies to buy but Ikea is almost always a big drive away and you're invariably going to spend a further £200 on stupid glassware and Bonsai trees.

Opened old wounds here...

No affiliation just a very happy customer after using them for 5 years for all my portrait studio framing work. Highly recommended.
