Buying a "Grey import" camera...
Discussion
Hi Guys, hope you don't mind me bumping this thread...
Looking to buy a 7D MK2 Body
Has anyone had any dealings with Techinthebasket? Seem pretty competitive
Techinthebasket £836.00
Panamoz £910.00
HDEW £959.00
SLR Hut £905.00
eGlobal £813.00
Read to many bad reports to trust eGlobal
Cheers Baz

No but, as an alternative consideration, e-infinity seem to have good reviews and they have it for £839.
I'm thinking of buying a Panasonic LX10 off them as it's £439 instead of over £530.

+1 I would go with e-finity over Techinthebasket any day - the trust pilot reviews for Techinthebasket are decidedly iffy...I'm thinking of buying a Panasonic LX10 off them as it's £439 instead of over £530.

Thanks Guys I've seen E-Infinity on Ebay but didn't realise you could buy direct, had a look at the reviews on TP and like you say, seem very positive
Yes, cheaper than ebay too.Oh and in reply to the original question posed, I decided to take the risk with an import as the saving is massive and they assure me it comes in the original box with all the normal bits. Also, I’ve had my D200 since it was released in 2006 (in fact I’m pretty sure I got one of the first in the country as it was a nightmare finding stock) and a D70 since a few years before that. Admittedly the D70 has largely just sat in my camera bag since buying the D200 but even so, they’re both pretty old and well used and I’ve never had a moments bother with either of them so I’m hopeful that I won’t with the D500 either. Fingers crossed.
If it does have an issue outside of the sellers 12month warranty it’ll still cost less to fix than the saving I made on the original purchase (I expect)

My son regularly travels to Japan and, with the previous excellent exchange rate, was always returning with photographic gear. He has bought second hand many times. Most Japanese don't seem to use their cameras excessively - maybe that's true of the UK, I don't know - but they take care of it.
Some bargains to be had.

In the end, I bought a Panasonic TZ110 (ZS100 here) for £399.60 from T-Dimension - about £130 less than you'd pay for a UK camera.
Obviously, apart from the model designation, which changes from country to country, it's identical and I have had no issues at all with it and the browser app is downloaded and identical..
