You're right - but it's something I can't find an answer too....do you get more distortion with an APS-C and a 10mm lens vs a FF and say a 16mm? Same field of view, but is it a more distorted image?
Can't be sure but quality of the lens will be important. If you're talking about barrel/pincushion distortion it also depends what you're photographing - eg a landscape is unlikely to show it but a building interior will. That said it can be dialled out in post if it's bothersome. Note that if you use an FX lens on a DX body you automatically 'lose' the edges and corners which are where other distortions show up most - you are in effect chopping out the best bit.

I would only need to change one of my lenses - my 35mm F/1.8G DX would need to be changed to a 50mm F/1.8G but that would be a really nice lens for general purpose.
Agreed, as it was back in the day of 35mm film! I prefer a midrange zoom for fast easy framing but it's a personal thing.

I've spent most of my evening doing housework and having Youtube reviews of D750s vs D610s vs D7200s playing in the background (I'm wild, I know) and I just can't make up my bloody mind!

There is no clear answer here.

In terms of what I like to photograph:

Everything.

Not helpful, but I do Motorsport (Both the big Goodwood events each year, a Grand Prix, at least one BTCC round and odds and sods), touristy walk about in old cities, landscapes and I like flowers too. So it's a mixed bag of requirements. If I didn't do motorsport, I'd get a D610 and be happy with it, but the D750/D7500 have much better Autofocus by the sounds of it...so motorsport!

Come back next week and ask me wobble

Sorry about the bold, I missed a '/'.

The problem with reading reviews is that a lot of them of them are other people's opinion. Those other people have different likes, dislikes and requirements from you.

All I can suggest is that once you've decided the DX/FX issue, get the best you can afford (or justify), and remember that lenses are just as important as bodies. Bear in mind that when/if you upgrade, the chances are that your software will need upgradng to read the new RAW files, and there will be a new learning curve because the better the kit, the more it will show up your own shortcomings!

The D610 is perfectly capable of shooting motorsport. It's AF system looks weak next to the D750 etc but it's nowhere near as bad as the 'internet' would have you believe. Centre point works very well. There is a poor spread beyond that and the the AF performance away from centre is poor in low light but I'd have no concerns whatsoever about shooting motorsport with one.
