I like the frame!

With such a dark background i'd probably crop it a lot tighter thats all I can really think of.

That's interesting.

They're not quite symmetrically arranged, and I sort of want them to be - might be cool, surreallist even. Probably because of the monochrome effect.

On the other hand, I want to see them naturally, and the dark background and border seem to take away that. Interesting "centres" (don't know the technical words!) they seem to have. But at this size can't really get the detail.

I like the fact that you have no scale either, they could be teeny or triffids - kinda lends a mystery to them!

I think it's a good picture Martin.

I find the colour slightly grotesque though in it's dominance, it's defiance to be anything pleasing.

The moist stamin alarms me most.
Evocative and enticing.
Quite overpowering realy.

I stared at this for ages this afternoon after your plea, unexplicably drawn and yet repelled by the violence.

Realy glad i'm not a bug with the horn looking for a bit of red only to be impalled on an enormous spike.

It reminds me of the Grace Jones of flowers, semi naked and erect. You might be compelled to touch but when you do your'e dead! And yes i did get all that from a little red flower.

Nice one

It's a striking shot but I find it challenging and, dare I say it, ugly - which is not to say there's anything wrong with it, but like Mahler is to classical music - it upsets my rhythms. I think it's the overpowering contrast between red and black, the weird flowers and the fact it's not parallel to the frame.

I like it. I would crop a bit tighter around the border as I think the flowers get a little lost in the frame. They are so unusual they deserve to be the key focus of the image.

I guess it could go two ways, fistly as you have it the image is very powerful and a bit "modern art" like. If you cropped in tighter it would be obvious it is flowers but you would get to look at the detail in them.
