I know we all have probs with camera shops from time to time, so after the service I received today I'd like to publically thank a certain high st shop.

I bought my camera last week from the Plymouth branch and ordered a 70-300mm lens to be delivered while I was there.

I called them today to ask when it would be delivered as I am off to Venice for a few days next week.

It wouldn't arrive in time, so the manager tried all the local (ish) branches to see if they had one. No joy. So they end up finding that Truro have a Tamron 28-300 in stock, and if I would like to BORROW it, all I need to do is pick it up.

Now I have a 28-300mm Tamron on loan (brand new from stock) to take away and return when my lens arrives.

Thank you Je**ops.

(can I name them?)

Great lens (and shots). Not a particularly fast lens but incredibly versatile. Tend to use mine 80% of the time, my Sigma 12-24 and Canon 100-400L IS covers the rest.

I assume you're waiting for the Sigma 70-300?

I opened this up thinking, oh God what's happened. Turns out something very good happened Well doen that man.

A quick letter to Jessop's head office may be in order to praise this chap. Won't do his annual review any harm at all and we all know we need more people like him in the trade.

Reading the thread by Rude_girl, I think it is worth adding the guy that was so helpful is Ron, manager of the Plymouth branch of Jessops.

Fantastic idea!!

Ex-biker, go for it. Even if it is short and sweet.

I'll try and start doing this as well every time I come across exceptional service. I know it's a right, and not a privilege, but all the same it's good to acknowledge those who do acknowledge that right as opposed to the cash-sucking numpties who wouldn't understand the word "service" if it hit them smack in the face.

Interesting... the ones in oxford are worse than useless. The staff are apathetic and dont seem to have any interest in the product or basic customer service training.

I bought some stuff in there two days ago, only because morris photographic ( www.morrisphoto.co.uk ) were out of stock and I almost felt guilty!

Ive found the reading branch to be just as bad. I put it down to poor in store management.

Proof that a store is only as good as the people in it, methinks

I bought my camera at the Southend store (from Deckchair who has posted here) and am very grateful for the advice and support she made. Indeed I was so chuffed that I took the time to write to head office.

In contrast the staff at my local store were somewhat less than helpful...
