One lens suits all Canon DSLR

I was going to go for a bridge, but then started reading reviews, which tend to be rather lukewarm. Problem seems to be that you can't get a decent sized sensor combined with a big zoom.
I'm sure it's a great compromise in terms of practicality, and lots of people find them really useful as a general use camera, but I wanted a noticeable step up in picture quality from my point and shoot and wasn't sure I'd get it, so went for DSLR instead.

You can get all that with a bridge camera, but it isn't going to be cheap!I'm sure it's a great compromise in terms of practicality, and lots of people find them really useful as a general use camera, but I wanted a noticeable step up in picture quality from my point and shoot and wasn't sure I'd get it, so went for DSLR instead.
Sony RX10 M3 or now M4 for example.
