Hi all

I'm looking to buy a digital camera and am considering the sony cybershot DSC L1 and maybe the canon IXUS 400/430/40. I'm on a budget of between £150 and £200 at a stretch.

Was just wondering if anyone has either of these cameras, knows anything about how good they are, or knows of any shops where i can buy cheap. I've been looking on kelcoo.com

And if there are any good competitors looks/price/quality/size wise.

Would be great if anyone could offer any suggestions

cheers

You would be better asking a mod to move it to the Photography forum

I have a Digital Ixus.

I fully recommend them - very well made, excellent lens and smart to look at.

Second the s5i. Superb little camera. Fabulous piece of engineering. Dirt cheap if you buy it from the States. The s5n is marginally better, in that it takes 640x480 videos at 30fps. The videos on the s5i are ltd. to 320x240 at 15fps, which makes them well below camcorder quality. Apart from that, there's nothing in it between the two. Same size, same lens, same sensor.

I haven't heard good things about the L1. Apparently some image quality problems? Also, I believe there are issues with the lens cover ceasing to function. Selling digital cameras, I generally advise against the L1 unless one really needs that small of a camera...

I got my S5i from Pixmania for £179.
