Right...the topic for February is "Decay"

This could be urban decay such as old buildings or areas, but you could also interpret this
as a rusting old car, or even some rotting fruit/flowers..

Lets see some varied and imaginative ideas based on 'decay'....

Rules:

The photos taken must be your own work and taken in the month of the competition.
The competition will run from the first to the last day of the month.
The winner from the previous month decides on the topic for the following month and judges it at the end of the month.
Entries and discussion on this single thread, please.
All entrants acknowledge that they may indeed win and that their adherence to convention ensures everyone else's continued fun.
Photos entered should be no bigger than 750 pixels wide for a landscape photo and 600 pixels high for a portrait photo due to the PH squash factor. Links to larger versions are permissible.

I left a bowl of tulips outside in the cold (to -25 at night) to see how the ice attacked them. In the end the air is far too dry here to get any frost but they have frozen solid.

Had a mooch around a local park today with the intention of shooting some 'decay. This was my best shot....

OK, so not a huge amount of entries for Feb's competition...maybe the cold weather has put everyone off laugh

in 3rd spot I would place chandrew and the composition of the decaying tulips - some nice
colours and good use of dof.

in 2nd spot I have chosen the 'science corridor' by Pidsy...some great UrBex
groove going on with this one..

So first place for Feb, and this goes to this image from C&C - obvious decay
of the flowers, but also a photo that leaves you with some unanswered questions..who
were the flowers a tribute to?, what was their story?

Thanks to everyone for entering the comp, over to C&C for the subject for March.

Great decision (and great photos!).

I thought C&C's photo was very poignant and really made me want to find the story. Simple, but very powerful.

Wow - thanks Jon, and sorry for the late reply - I certainly didn't expect to be chosen - had assumed Pidsy's urbex shot was a better image, but also glad you picked up on the link to further decay in people's lives alluded to by the flowers.

This is local to me, and the back story as far as I'm aware was that a young lad had been running from the police. They'd called off the pursuit, but I guess he didn't know this, and lost it going over a railway bridge. Apparently no-one else was involved, which was fortunate as there are quite a few pedestrians about in the area most times.

Unfortunately, as is always the case in these situations, it's the ones left behind that my thoughts go out to.

Right, I'll get my thinking cap on and post the March topic today.....
