Quick release strap?
Discussion
Does such a thing exist? 9 times out of 10 I hate having a strap attached to the camera, however every now and then I need it, and have to go through the hassle of threading it on.
Does anyone know if a quick release type strap is available anywhere? I've looked around but not found much.
Sort of thing I'm thinking is a couple of these type plastic buckle things attached to the camera permanently:

Suppose I might end up with a DIY effort, but wanted to avoid that!

Stoopid here must have searched wrong first time as I found one easily today:

Having to thread straps through those slots is a pain, and the camera makers never put the slots in the right place to let the camera hang straight. Turn the camera vertically, and you get a large helping of strap in your face, mouth or across the viewfinder....
I added quick-release swivel joints to my strap, cannibalised off an old one. Much better!

Hey!
I got a strap with little dog-clips on each end and they just clip onto little triangles like a keyring and through the eyes on the body. This has been on my old Canon for nearly 30 years. I just, today, dragged the camera out of storage with a view to putting it on fleabay!
(My, that camera's so slim compared to my Nikon! )
You want the strap??

Happened to get the new SpeedGraphic catalogue today and was intrigued by these from neotech/op tech (which I hadn't heard of before):
www.optechusa.com/product/detail/?PRODUCT_ID=15&PRODUCT_SUB_ID=&CATEGORY_ID=4
they seem to have loads of designs on the site, I'm sure they'll have something suitable.

Thats' right, that's the way they used to do it! Perfect. Why they changed to those stupid slots in the wrong place, I don't know. Evidently nobody who designs these products actually uses them....
I was in a similar boat last month, I took the advice of some of the guys on here and bought an Optech pro strap.
What can I say............believe the hype!!!
It's the best £16 i've spent in a long time.
The increased width of the strap spreads the load across a wider area, and the neoprene is real comfy over long periods of time.
The QR buckles make it nice and easy to get the strap out of the way for macro work or on the tripod, and no need to bother about putting back on the wrong way, as the buckles are handed.

I too sold an old Canon strap on ebay, and may well sell the Canon one that came with my 20D, just haven't got round to it yet.
I always have done, and always will use the OpTech Pro straps. Fantastic, comfortable and in a strange way due to the bounciness actually make the kit feel lighter.
Also, as mentioned the ability to take off the long strap and clip the 2 stubs together makes a nice hand strap.
