Can I ask your workflow/thought process to getting such a good balance of exposure with both the interior and the exterior visible through the windows? Something I always seem to struggle with...

I'm sure Steve will correct me if I'm wrong but a decent camera should capture enough information for you to be able to lower the highlights in a post processing program like lightroom to give this effect. For very bright spaces you may need to use HDR (high dynamic range) which would be to take multiple shots at different exposures (ideally on a tripod) and merge them in lightroom for the best effect.
