I must just be a stuffy old fart, but have never seen the point of squiffy pictures of distant landmarks with the phone's owner's weird distorted face covering the lower third of the picture.
I would rather take a decent pic of the thing I went to see. I know what I look like, and I know I was there. Anyone I am showing my pictures to will know I was there too, as I am showing them the pictures I took.
There are so many fantastic images taken on the Apollo missions, from official portraits, to technical records - Views of our planet as never seen before and depictions of a new and alien world.
I have never thought they were missing a selfie from their archive !

I don't like selfies either but that wasn't the point.I would rather take a decent pic of the thing I went to see. I know what I look like, and I know I was there. Anyone I am showing my pictures to will know I was there too, as I am showing them the pictures I took.

The point, that apparently I failed to make, was that a selfie, with the LM and Earthrise also visible would have been the only picture with ALL of mankind in the frame, as opposed to all minus 1. i.e the ultimate group shot.
Never mind.
