Nothing like the standard of most of the shots on here, which have amazed me all evening but I (was) happy with this

Taken by me in the Outer Hebrides a couple of weeks ago, can anyone identify the bird?
There were 2 of them and they put on quite a show for us for about 20 minutes, sadly I only have a cheap 300mm lens and it's just not good enough!

Underside of the wings may be a bit dark, but if you're up in that part of the world that was probably a golden eagle.

Was there a frame of reference for size (e.g. any other birds near it)? Because if it looked quite a bit bigger than a buzzard, then it's almost certainly a golden eagle.

I’d agree

It's a juvenile White tailed sea Eagle, the immatures don't have the white tail of the adult, it's creamy and fringed with black / dark brown,
also the wings of the sea eagle are more 'rectangular' than the Golden Eagles more curved and less broad wings, the Golden Eagles tail is
also a bit longer and doesn't have the diamond shape of the Sea Eagles which is often the best indentifier, as seen in the picture above.

Bighorn sheep on the edge of the Grand Canyon. Unfortunately not a male with the impressive big horns, but still pretty cool to see these :-)

I spent the day with this Coypu family yesteday......brought to France by the fur trade a century ago, and released into the wild, when no longer fashionable. They are gentle, caring and misunderstood creatures, that are now sadly persecuted and hunted!

I have not seen this female Genet for almost a year, so delighted, when it turned up in the forest a few nights ago and gave me a short sequence of shots.

King in Richmond Park a couple of weeks ago. Taken at distance, using a 350mm equivalent lens. Very little processing, it was a foggy day and the light was exquisite.

I can confirm (from Peru 25 years ago) that they taste vile, there is no reason for hunting them unless as a pest.

Not sure how this one will look on the screen as it’s only a phone snap - one of the little critters on the beach at Port Douglas…

Not going to win any photography prizes (still from a video taken on an old iPhone) but happy to get lucky with this image of a dolphin at sunrise this morning.

Great shot. Whereabouts was this taken?

Great to see - We managed to stumble upon one on the banks of the river in Kyoto a few years ago
