Is that the Grand Canyon?
No, this is central Utah (State) - same generic body of exposed sandstone, but about 300 km North of the Grand Canyon.

As for the 'pro', making money and photography isn't really a thing these days.
Oh you can still make money out of photography, I must be one of the lucky ones.

Great image by the way aswell, and agree this needs to be printed. Not many people print these days, can't beat a good print of that memory you captured, cheap to print aswell now really.

Depend what you are shooting theres still demand for commercial, product, wedding etc.

And yes esp in UK there are decent online printing services that dont cost a lot.

Yes of course. That's exactly what I do commerical/product and more workplace well pre-covid (hoping to go back soon...pending on the new rules)

I've found Costco pretty good for printing images believe it or not, and so cheap - had a few big ones from there.

So it's got the same sort of chance as every other photo I've entered then.

I daresay that's always been the case, but surely the whole point of a photo competition is to get people to take pictures specifically for the competition? I really can't see the point in people rifling through their back catalogue looking for pictures that they took some time ago and for some other reason. Although I would have to say that the characteristically vague competition subjects do make searching for suitable entries very easy.
I wouldn’t worry. The entire thing seems to be a total farce anyhow. At least based on last months sham. I certainly won’t be bothering with this pretence of a friendly competition.

Strong words but I must say I agree with the sentiment.

To paraphrase a well known photographer "if you take a picture of a pretty girl then you're going to get a pretty picture" and I must say what I'm seeing on this thread are for the most part the landscape equivalent.

I can see why you would see it that way, but the guy had a justifiable complaint and it was brushed aside by the person who made the mistake that led to the complaint.

I think that maybe we've all been under this lockdown for a bit too long now. I've noticed recently some rather fractious threads on forums that wouldn't normally have this.

Regarding the comment on the Sgt.Berbatov picture not having a chance (and I assume this also applies to the earlier post by Carl4dogs), the competition subject is "Over Saturated Landscapes", and since these 2 images are both black and white, which is what results with a colour photo when the saturation control is dialled down to zero, by definition, these photos have no saturation, and therefore cannot be considered "Over Saturated Landscapes".

FWIW, Sgt.Berbatov, I look forward to your photos in the comps as it's interesting to see someone shooting film. thumbup

Thank you for the kind words. I'm not at all fussed about winning as I take the photos and they never get shared.

But just a point on the film photography, that photo is originally from a black and white roll of film that was edited to bring the cloud out. And ended up giving the wife a halo which she doesn't deserve hehe
