As per the title can anyone advise the minimum spec needed please. I'm in cheapskate mode so ideally looking at something s/hand.

I don't need it for any other purpose just effectively a tethered screen so looking for the cheapest way of achieving this

What software are you going to use for the tethering, Capture One? Lightroom? Other?

Surely your minimum laptop spec will be governed by that software?

I tether my Nikons to an old IBM Thinkpad laptop. It's an early gen i5 machine with 8GB RAM. Only cost me about £100.00 six years ago. I chucked in an SSD and those things are as cheap as chips as well now.

Also, could I recommend one of these as a USB extension cable:
