Typical. Even they are out of stock. Let us know when you get it.

They got some more stock in and afters several attempt to buy it failed for some reason I eventually got one ordered and pulled the trigger on a P950 too.

We shall see how it gets on.

Anyone ordered from Nikon direct before ? Ordered last Saturday, got immediate receipt of order, it no ability to track the order or delivery. I had a chat with their help line on Wed and they said as it was coming from Europe, they couldn’t track it until it landed in U.K. ?

Fast forward to Friday, I get an e.mail invoice with a UPS tracking number but UPS doesn’t recognise it…..so I have no clue where it is in the supply chain or when it will arrive !

The E.mail contains this :
Do you require a tracking number for your Parcel? Unfortunately, due to complications in shipping from the EU, we are currently unable to send you a tracking numbers directly.

However, the invoice clearly gives an 18 digit UPS track and trace code.

I’m not in a particular rush for it but it would be good to know what day it’s going to turn up so we can arrange to be in !

I’m in the same boat. Their systems are utter crap. They send you a tracking number but in the same sentence say they can’t track it.

You should get a notification when it hits the UK but that might be on the last day of shipping.

yes I find UPS consumer site takes about 3-4 days to update from when you get the tracking email. Should be instantaneous really.

NHS vaccine booking system is the same. Just had email saying booking ref 123456 can be rebooked for an earlier date. Logon to change, "booking ref 123456 does not exist" DOH

I've never understood the point of bridge cameras. You get the inconvenience of DSLR size, combined with the inability to change lenses.

I specifically wanted a long lens for animal / sports photography, but without the inconvenience of carrying more than 1 lens. I'm happy with the size, its lighter than my current Nikon D40X with 300mm lens but with the convenience of everything from macro to telephoto all in one package. I'll be able to use it on holidays for holidays snaps, watching my sons compete at athletics and he can use it when he's out stalking deer / red kite that live near me.

I'm sure photographers and camera buffs will never get one, as it's not designed for you guys, it's designed for people like me......lazy part time happy snappers with a few ££ to spend :-)

Very much this for me too. I have a very old EOS 400D with a whole bunch of lenses but it’s a pain in the arse to constantly change the lenses and then set up the required settings to then have to switch back to a smaller lens for something else. This will do me very well for picking up, press a few buttons for what I want and snap away. I can also have pre set profiles for what I want to do. It’s quick enough for decent motorsport pics and if I feel like taking photos of the moon I can.

I've had three bridge cameras. They suited my needs at the time. I was illustrating an A4 magazine and it was adequate. I then went onto images on websites and e-books. None of the aggro with changing lenses. No plethora of peripherals. Just a flashgun, memory cards and batteries. I had a friend with a Nikon, possibly, with a 900mm max zoom, and he was forever sending me images of motor races. Later, he started on the Moon. I can tell you that one crater looks more or less like another.

Mine were lighter than a DLSR by a bit. Also, no bag of lenses to carry. I've now got a micro 4/3rds that has some of the advantages of a bridge plus the light weight. My 200 - 600mm equivalent lens is so much lighter than the one I had for my SLR.

It's horses for courses. I've got a decent quality compact that I take everywhere. It's provided better shots than I would have got with my phone.

My thoughts as well, while shopping to replace DSLR kit earlier this year I examined what I would use the most and what I wanted from a camera.
As I’ve a bit of a bimble round Europe planned next year and want to travel relatively light the idea of one unit that’ll do everything I could ever want, speed, versatility, size, weight & image quality in one 812g package ticks all the boxes for me.

Hi Steve, any update on your camera? If you ordered on the 22nd it's either the 6th working day or the 9th calendar? I'm not sure if they only count working days in their "less than 10 days" estimate.

I ordered on the evening of the 26th so the clock probably didn't start counting until the 27th. Their invoice layout isn't exactly well put together either:

I have redacted the personal info bits.

No updates as of 7pm Wed 2nd. I ordered on their system on Saturday 22nd, with immediate confirmation, invoice came through on 28th with delivery not date 25th. Absolutely zero since.

I called them as I couldn't get the tracking number to work and they confirmed it's working days, not calendar. So looks like you're on day 8 or thereabout with be around a week behind.

For a company the size of Nikon, it’s ridiculous. It’s by far the worst communication in terms of online ordering I’ve experienced in years. Left completely hanging with “it will probably be with you within 10 days” but zero communication on where it is. For all I know, it could still be sat in a warehouse in Amsterdam.

I just bought some shirts from Fiji, & can see they are sat in DHL warehouse at the airport in Fiji !

I read somewhere that it was the glass for lenses that is holding things up. Madness really.

The lady I spoke to was in Portugal. She could see all of my details, order number, date of order and even their "internal tracking number". Apparently, their internal number allows for earlier tracking which then marries up to the UPS tracking number so for that not to show anything to even them leads me to believe it hasn't even cleared whatever warehouse it was shipping from.

The UPS number provided isn't even recognised by UPS web page also.
