Thanks all for taking part, a strong showing from all of you! I was challenged by choosing the top three, having to make some really fine distinctions between minimalism and abstract.

So third place (but first for PH-content) is RDMcG with a valid interpretation of "everything but the essential" taken out

And first to Nigel_O for a compelling formal view on minimalism. I couldn't help but focus on the tiny boat and the lone big pebble, without losing the senses of space, texture, and distance, given by the three layers.
