Even with a relatively small amount of oil lost, it spread throughout a wide area - I was sailing that in the area and picked up oil on the boat on both the Moroccan and Spanish coats. Lots of it throughout the Med. Didn't see much wildlife affected though..Had coffee with the chopper crew the morning after the Fedra broke up. Amazingly calm and collected considering what I'd seen them fly through the night before..
