Don't worry Blib, the threads never been the same since you handed over the reigns.
Definitely agree with that. Since the riff raff stormed the thread no-one even cares about reposts or quality of the pictures. Unfortunately the worst thing that happened to the thread was being put in the voting for thread of the year, it brought it to the attention of people who didn't care what we'd achieved so far in the thread.Oh well! Luckily I have my work cut out in the insolvency based threads.

Repost from the Interesting Aircraft photo thread Blib (can you call a repost from another thread)Adolphe Pegoud is credited as the first person to loop an aircraft (and survive!!)
Supposedly, he was testing parachutes by jumping out and as he floated down, he saw the aircraft carry on and perform a couple of loops on it's own, so he thought he'd try it himself.............
In one of these............Now that is bravery, or madness.

The story as told in this Months Yachting World is as follows.
I cannot find a weblink in English, however.

Not such a swell time! The story that accompaned this incredible series of pictures stats with somewhat of an understatement - "This boat, Urola, had a big surprise 12m off the entrance to the port of Zumaia."
Zumaia is on the north coast of Spain and had a long, narrow entrance with a marina in the centre of the town. On the day in question there was little wind, but a big Atlantic swell. Most of the boats timed their run in carefully and had enough power to outrun the seas, but not the hapless crew of the Urola.
The story continues: "As you can see in the sequence, it stormed into the port, but without the speed to outrun the wave behind, it got engulfed by the breaking wave. When we saw what happened, we thought that it would capsize, but it managed to right itself and the crew entered the port having had a big shock".
I got your PM and will send the image but it is one single image showing the whole sequence, I have tried to find the individual photos!Zumaia is on the north coast of Spain and had a long, narrow entrance with a marina in the centre of the town. A real heart-in-the-mouth series of pics.
