Best way to mount photos into an album?
Discussion
Hi folks. I've just about managed to finish the rather laborious process of hand printing about 150 photos from my sister's wedding and now need to mount them in an album. What's the best way to mount them for longevity? I was thinking of using spray mount, but am not sure if that will damage the photos.
Any thoughts welcome.
Cheers,
Gixxer.

3M Display Mount is permanent - 'Spray Mount' will peel off.
This stuff lasts for ever, but make sure you get the position right first time!

IIRC Photo mount is stronger than Display mount which is stronger than Spray mount. Go with Photomount if you can. We used to lay out a BIG area of newspaper, then with another paper on top spray one image, then fold a couple of pages over on the paper, then spray the next photo, etc, etc. That way every time you put an image face down to spray it's on a new (clean) page. Stuff gets everywhere btw!
We also used to use a thermal press and some heat sensative adhesive sheets, but that was years ago with proper photo paper.

I'll agree with all of this (particularly using a newspaper to avoid sticky overspray), except that I think Display Mount is stronger than Photo Mount. I've had problems with pictures lifting when I used Photo Mount, but perhaps I didn't use enough. We also used to use a thermal press and some heat sensative adhesive sheets, but that was years ago with proper photo paper.
