I really wish there was an equivalent of the MPE-65 system for Nikon, although it's probably best for my wallet that there is not laugh

Nice shots Craig, hoverflies are pretty amazing to watch! Next up, to catch one in flight with the MP-E hehe

Loving these all these ^^^

A little mosquito from 10 mins ago... my neighbours think I'm bonkers, skulking around the garden in the dark and sticking my head in bushes!!

I can't compare to the others in this thread, but here is my attempt - saw this little guy in Southern France

Probably could be improved with some photo software, but not my area of expertise smile

Worth practicing 'image resizing' though - it's still loading.

Just found these little critters on a silver birch tree... any one know what they are or what they will turn in to?

First pic shows both of them. Smaller yellowy one (approx 5mm long) and bigger orange one (about 15-18mm long) with a white mohecan

On this one you can make out the head, eyes and mouthparts...

This one was taken approx 4:1 to try and get the detail in the hair/fur/whateveritis

'aint nature wonderful??

Fun with a dead bumble bee (I didn't kill it, I think it had a heart attack*):

All taken with a Canon EOS400D with Tamron 90mm Macro lens - ISO100, f22.

Perhaps it seen Karl Pilkington's head shaped like a f**king orange

Did the bee have small ticks or mites on it. I think I can see some in that shot. I have found several bees dying while covered with mites over the past few years. Does anyone know anything about them?

Excellent shots people!

Dr Mad, crazy looking caterpillar, wish we got things like that up here!

Oobster, $lippery slope this macro business, good first results though. The hard part though is not killing them first wink

A couple from tonight, these are evil little buggars to watch, they remind me of Nazi WWII soldiers with the helmet thing on their back. Is this not cannibalism?

That's the ones. Horrible to see, but not sure what can be done on an individual scale. The bees I've found have been near to death so picking off the mites would do little good.
