Interesting bug Ed
Why the composite shot ?
The pupa is on top of the discarded larval skin (the spiky bit). I wanted that in focus as well as the side of the pupa. I focussed on the spiky bit for the first shot then moved in 1mm or so for the second. I then "cloned" the spikes onto the shot with the pupa in focus (and the spikes OOF). I don't have any "stacker" software (like Zerene Stacker), and this technique works quite well. Why the composite shot ?
As the bugs weren't playing much over the weekend, I tried out my shiny new 100mm 2.8L on some flowers.

/\ superb detail and clarity on those Bee shots. From the 1st one looks like he has some damage to his left eye.
Probably a miniature camera - Robobee, a drone sent by the CIA so suss out what DD is up to. DibblyDobbler said:

Probably a miniature camera - Robobee, a drone sent by the CIA so suss out what DD is up to. Superb pics as usual Mike. Some from today below. First is a bit off focus-wise as I had to take it quickly when the spider ran down when this thing hit it's web!
