If you're missing photographing "bugs", just turn over some leaves (and unwind your MP-E 65mm to x5!). Damp weather can provide some interesting shots ...

Really love this thread. Keep it up guys. Any chance of adding equipment used?
I'm looking to finally buy a proper macro lens for use on my trusty old D200. Probably secondhand, in the upto GBP250 area. I'm considering
Tokina 100mm 1:2.8 AT-X Pro D,
Nikkor AF 105mm F2.8D MICRO,
Sigma EX DG 105mm f/2.8 and
TAMRON SP AF 90mm f/2.8 DI MACRO.
Any thoughts or recommendations?

I'm a Canon man and use the MPE-65 - nothing like that available for Nikon I'm afraid! All of the above review well so I'd just get whichever of them comes up first and looks like a good deal I'm looking to finally buy a proper macro lens for use on my trusty old D200. Thanks guys, DD that Canon lens really is the business. And Damian, some impressive shots from the Raynox.
Looks like I have a Sigma on the way. Found one local for 200gbp. Hopefully have it by the weekend.
Good lens, well done on the purchase! If you need any advice on settings, technique etc just ask away - probably the next thing you'll be looking at will be a flash... Looks like I have a Sigma on the way. Found one local for 200gbp. Hopefully have it by the weekend.
Thanks for the offer of help DD. I have already read up on focus stacking after reading one of your posts from a while ago. And I already have a flash (sb600), which I recently discoverd can be triggered off-camerawirelessly from the D200, so looking forward to experimenting with that. a set of cheap bellows may be on the cards though.

Unbelievable. Unfortunately my 100mm macro is not going to spot that little dude unless I crop it by about 400%!Bubbles! by Ed Phillips 01, on Flickr
Having a bit of a play around with some cheapie eBay macro 'filters' to get this close. A long way from true macro but cheap!
I bought some of thesefor less than a fiver.
I there is no link from camera to lens
set camera to manual exposure, moved closer or further away from the subject to focus
hear are some of my examples of my e500 (the older e300 I think)and cheapo tubes
tiny spider about 3mm across
dew on a dandelion
