Cheers Nigel, i've just pulled the trigger on purchasing a dedicated 'macro' lens, so hoping to get some sharper images soon. - In the meantime, I stay motivated by viewing your and Mike's shots!

I'm sure you'll enjoy the dedicated macro lens, it opens up lots of new possibilities and like most new bits of kit comes with lots of new problems to overcome too. It's also very addictive. Or perhaps that's just me.

Coincidentaly, I set this months picture competition about 'timing'....................Little did I know that I was to witness the following attack on a Hoverfly by a Hornet this afternoon. - Talk about being in the right place at the right time!

WARNING..........Following images are quite graphic:

The kill

Note the top of the head already discarded by the tail of the hoverfly

Head almost off
