Fabulous. Thanks for posting.

I was attacked by a sparrowhawk when cycling on a bridleway on the way home from work. I saw it take off from a shattered tree some distance away and climb away. The next I knew, it was coming at me at eye level. I ducked and it flew over my head. A farmer told me that it has been attacking his sheep, pulling wool off them, but this was autumn, so not nest building. Just a stroppy bird according to the farmer.

Great photo.

Loving all the bird pictures on here, great work guys. The Common Buzzard in particular is a stunner clap. Keep them coming, great
time of year for seeing passage migrants.

I'm a newbie to this thread - there are some stunning photos on the last couple of pages!

My reason for clicking on this thread though, is that I was well and truly mocked by a heron this morning. The last few times I have cycled through the local university campus I have spotted a heron on the lake there. So decided to go with my camera today and try to take a photo. It wasn't it its usual spot, but I saw it about 20m away. I watched it for a little but, and it waited until I was just bring the camera up to my eye before flying off into the distance.

The only redemption of my trip out is that I saw the unmistakable blue flash of a kingfisher as I was riding back past another pond on the campus - I was not expecting to see one in such a busy area!

About an hour ago I was just about to sit down in the living room to watch a film and looked out the window before drawing the curtains and saw this in my next door neighbours front garden. The pigeon was bigger than the sparrowhawk and was still alive while it was being plucked. The first picture was taken through the window, then I crept outside hoping to get closer without disturbing the sparrowhawk and was able to get a few more pictures. It flew off when a cyclist sped past but returned about 20 minutes later to finish de-feathering and finally eating.
