The supertanker one isn't a winning pic in its own right but it's the most thought-provoking. You can't help wondering what will happen next.

And I think its a dolphin, not a shark.
They are quite often in the waves in Australia so a pic wouldnt be too difficult (for a pro).
The tourist shops in Byron Bay tend to be full of pics similar for sale.

arent I just a bundle of joy tonight!
Just getting myself down after seeing another car slip away

Difficult to know isn't it?
Sharks tails go vertical Dolphins horizontal (I think) this picture is inconclusive but it looks big for a dolphin and the dangerous end looks very pointy.

There are other Griffs out there mate, but you are young why get old before your time? Get yourself a pukka Chimaera and join the youngsters for a bit

Whats amazing about the first photo is that it was not a very long exposure, like most lightning shots are. you can tell because the sun is still round - it doesn't take much time for it to go a bit oval. So maybe a lucky shot, but incredible all the same. My vote goes to the man holding the sun though, I think.

Perhaps it was one of a series of shots.
All the same even 36 shots fired off rapidly and you'd be lucky to ge this.
The other possibility is a photosensitive trigger. That would work if it was quick enough.

Would be interesting to see if Simpo can see them he is always saying he can't.

No I'm not!

NB On the lightning one, with an aperture of f22 or 32 I reckon you could get an exposure of a few seconds - enough to increase your chances of getting the lightning. Or just bung it in PS and go Image/Effects/Add Lightning....

thats what I'm thinking as well simpo, I can't help feel that the lightning and the shark one are digitally enhanced albeit by a very skilled artist.

Personally I like the sun one - something I could do and it looks great and the tanker. I agree with what was said earlier about provoking thought, which is, IMO what pictures should do.

I believe the shark one, especially if it is a dolphin as I have surfed with dolphins myself. Fairly common in Australia.

Also the lightenening(uh?) one, bare in mind that it could be the sort of lightening that stirkes and flickers around for a second or so giving enough time to press the button or activate a photo-sensitive switch to operate the camera.

Very simple, could even build such a trigger myself so it must be! I have Just borrwed a sound trigger with time delay that my friend built to photgraphy clay pigeon shooting. It works very accurately too.

I dont thinkt he mountiain one is a particularly good picture, however the subject is interesting.

DustyC, I'm not doubting it is possible to get a picture like that, but I don't see how that picture can be correct.

The background looks real, the lightning looks added later, it just doesn't look right (clouds aren't there, the lightning comes in at the top...). Having said that, I've never seen it happen (not doubting it could) hence my sceptism.
