Correction £16 worth of goods.

I used some threadlock too.

Any mods to seatbelts are done at the owners risk.

Thanks Joe et al,
Sorry, I wasn't paying attention paperbag
I've been meaning to do this mod for ages, ever since you showed me at Stratford last year. Hopefully I'll have it done for Stratford this year smile

WARNING: hope that got your attention!!!

Take care, the rose joins referred to on ebay are CFR spec; carbon steel, specifically for applications which do NOT have a heavy load. These are NOT suitable for seat belt anchorages.eeknono

Look back on the thread and you will see the correct ones are XFR, which is the correct high performance spec. smileclapFrom the same company, £21.00 incl, (per pair) delivered

Even if declared and agreed with your insurers I think the Rose Joint idea looks a bit "home made" and just possibly, should the worst happen, an independent assessor may not be impressed?

This version however looks far more "factory" and would possibly go un-noticed by all but the most fastidious assessor. All IMHO

clicky for full description (scroll down to "seat Belt Mod" on left hand side)

Hi Max, those are the ones, the XFR spec, my price was of course for a pair. I should have made that clear.

Hi Mike, I have got no problem with the DIY approach (provided you keep evidence that the steel is an appropriate spec), but I would not see any problem with an insurer being satisfied with a high strength component acceptable for race scrutineering, and from a well established supplier. I haven't notified mine yet but I will be notifying them of a couple of upgrades when the current programme of work is done.

I've got a contact who can make these so I'll post a separate thread to gauge interest.

Is there really that 'much' force in volved in seat belts that a [effectively] m12 size steel fitting can't cope with?

ETA: The rose joint does allow the seatbelt to 'self adjust' to suit different people. The other mod, while still sorting the pull of the belt, won't give the movement.

McGill's data for the CF7 type rod end shows max radial load of 9150 lbf.
If you divide this by the average male body weight, you get a figure of 45.75, so in theory, it should withstand the forces involved in a 45G impact. ( or 30G if you are an American wink )
How hard are you expecting to crash?

For what it's worth, When I got my first S, the belt used to snag at least every other time I used it. I fitted the 'other mod' six years ago, and I don't think the belt has ever snagged since.

I think you've mis-read what I put. Both mods stop the belt catching / snagging. The rose joint gives some side to side play that I don't see the other mod giving.

As for the crashing ' G', its an S not a Griff smile

Mine are the XFR7 spec ones. 7 1/6th" RH female rod ends are the ones to ask for if you want to go this route.
