I need to replace the tyres on my S3 sometime soon. The preferred choice seems to be Bridgestones S02 (or S03), which are not available in the original 205/60ZR15.

Should I opt for 205/55 and live with the lower ride height and (according to the "Bible") 3% error of the speedo reading or is better to go for 225/55 and thus maintain the original circumference? Would these tyres fit the rims (Oz 8 spoke) and wheelarches?

I would be grateful for any advice.

i maybe wrong but 225 and 205 are the widths and not the profile which is 55 in your case so the wheel will still be smaller
(i maybe wrong though)

The 50 bit is the profile percentage, it roughly work that if you add 10 to the width come down 5 in the profile, this would in theory give you the same overall diameter. What is the price for a 225/50x15?

225 is a little too wide for those 7" rims, the contact patch distorts under heavy cornering. 205 is spot on. I wouldn't worry too much about speedo changes, you get almost the same difference from the diameter change as the tyre wears, and anyway I suspect your speedo error is a lot more than 3%!

Cheers,

Also if you are running the non adjustable trailing arms anything larger than 205 is going to foul the outside tube on the trailing arm

Thanks a lot, guys.

I'll be going for four SO2s then. How does £365 for four sound? Includes fitting and all...
