I know where the car is but lots of houses and flats around... Doesn't seem to have moved though. Looks intact from a cursory glance. Just worried that people will start vandalising it...

Hi All,

The update on this is that there is no progress. The third party insurers are being painful slow and resolution is dragging. Added to this I've only just emerged from a 14hr/day, 7 days a week working stint that started at the tail end of last year.

Every time I've got home late recently it's upset me a little bit more to see the S as she is, now I've got some spare time I'll be investing some of it into tidying her up a bit and investigating alternative parking arrangements. If anyone local has storage I'd love to hear from you. With the MOT due in April things are coming to a head rapidly as I've a sneaking suspicion a pass is unlikely eek

She starts but the bonnet is badly out of alignment and the rear near side light cluster is smashed.

Hi Stats,
Good to hear from you.
Surely your insurance company should have organised safe storage pending the outcome? Or you could rent a lock-up & claim back the cost?
Is your car still driveable?

I would have been thumping on a few senior managers' desks by now, demanding some action.
This is just not good enough.
Make a nuisance of yourself or not a lot will happen.
You are the innocent party here for goodness' sake!

Ok, there is a complete bodytub, doors & bonnet on eBay surplus to requirement at David Gerald TVR, ends in a few days, worth putting in a bid, because this kind of opportunity doesn't come along very often. I would beg or borrow ( I don't do stealing ) to get this if I were in your shoes, because in a few days it will be gone.

I'll step down from my pulpit now & wish you luck.

Cheers & chin up,
Glen.

Hi Glen - the situation is sadly complex involving the police, the prison services 2x insurance companies. I have neither the time to commit to getting this resolved, or if I'm honest the need to.

However I ca reduce e cost of the claim, but not incurring additional costs, I feel it's the least I can do. But soon as MOT / tax run out she will need to go somewhere. Unfortunately I have neither the time or expertise to mess about with new body tubs and so on. I'd love to but practically I simply cant.

I wasn't proposing that you do the repair work yourself, it just an opportunity to get hold of rare body parts at reasonable prices for whoever ends up doing the repairs. Has your car been assessed yet?

I hope you have a satisfactory outcome sooner rather than later.
All the best Stats,
Glen

I know a guy who runs a garage in Bromley with a bit of space but no idea if he would be willing to store it. Wish I could offer myself but already have 4 cars on the drive! Must be somewhere you could rent a lockup for a couple of months, so many blocks of flats with an bloc garages around there, most will be empty... Anybody you know you could sling a few quid for the loan of the space?

Every time I drive past it makes me sad frown when it's fixed up we'll have to have a rumble around Bromley laugh

Its not been assessed no, I've been advised to wait while the BMWs insurance teams pursue the third party, but with front, rear and light side fiber glass damage it's going to be an expensive repair, add a full respray to that and it's almost certainly a write off frown

NCOT where abouts are you? You don't drive a bluey green S do you by any chance? I've seen one around a few times, there used to be another BRG S in the neighbourhood but I've not seen that around for a while.

Fingers crossed for a resolution soon, I'll be posting full account soon as it is but there are still ongoing investigations, so I'd rather not ssy at this point.

I miss the S something rotten though, she brought so many smiles to my face through some fairly tough times, and that's what made ownership so rewarding..... obviously I need to get this sorted and get back on the road soon driving

The BRG could be the one I bought from a guy in Tottenham, which is why you wont have seen it recently, its up in Warwickshire with me.
I Read your posts with heavy heart, just wish there was some way to help.
If there is anything feel free to ask, sure any of us would do what we can for a fellow S owner, there are legal experts on pistonheads that may be able to advise how to push this on for you.

Hi Mike, thanks for the kind words. I'm actually glad I'm so busy with work at the moment or the lack of movement would get seriously depressing.

I'm basically being left with the choice of claiming on my own insurance or waiting for justice to take is time. It all seems pretty straight forward to resolve to me, so I'm loathed to just give up, but as always, throw in a couple of insurance companies into the mix and it all gets complicated and time consuming (not helped by certain people denying all knowledge of the incident furious)

It may seem a bit daft when its wrecked, but before it gets assessed its worth while giving it a good clean and tidy up. It gives a much more favourable impression of its value if its well presented.
Got my son to do this after his Clio was rammed in a hit and run. It was dirty and sad looking but after a good clean up the insurance company inspector signed off repairs that were 2/3rds the estimated vehicle value.

Stats, I'm over in Bickley/Petts Wood area, and that's not mine - mine is a maroon S2 with smoked lights (pic in profile). Really hope it gets resolved soon, will give it a nod as I pass it tomorrow, lovely car and was the colour combo/spec I was after when looking for mine!
I think I would be tempted to rent a garage for a few months until it was sorted.

She'll be getting a thorough clean up before the assessors visits but it will be thoroughly disatisfactory effort!

I got an update yesterday and it looks now like things might be moving finally.... but sadly not in a favourable direction

The police have talked to the suspected driver & as anticipated they are denying any involvement, despite evidence to the contray. A criminal conviction looks unlikely so it's down to the insurance companies to deal with.. progress at least. Unfortunatley, I was also told that the case is with the third parties underwriters as there may be an issue with the policy (why have they only discovered this now banghead) and it might be invalid regardless of where/how a verdict is reached..... weeping

So if any S-lovers out there have spare fingers could they please cross them for a favourable outcome , thanks Stats

I agree with Norman ^^^^

Also, If I were you I wouldn't be crossing fingers, I'd have ( metaphorically ) crossed swords by now!
If there is evidence to prove who is culpable in this sorry case, I'd be wanting to know why that person cannot be brought to account.

And I would have pursued the insurance companies with quite a lot of vigour,
until I got some semblance of a satisfactory outcome.
Never mind wait & see.....

Sorry, Stats, hope it works out.
