Mike,

The exhaust will need careful consideration and will also be determined to some extent by the completed manifolds and what port size the mainfolds are.

A standard S exhaust would probably not give you enough flow although a V8S type may.

This is somewhat of a black science and although I could give you pipe diameters (probably) I think you will need to speak to someone with greater knowledge. Leebee would certainly be able to expand on the exhaust sizes etc.

I really wish I could be of more assistance but without knowing what the engine normally needs in terms of exhaust and manifolds etc it'll be very hard. What I do know though is that it really can effect the performance !

It would be worth looking and talking to the Cosworth guys to see what size bores they use for performance etc etc and seeing whether that is transferable to the S. Certainly Tim Lamont at ACTS Performance Products is worth talking too aswell, even Hayward and Scott.

As for a pint some time, love one !! Want to quix you about Griffith v's S

Cheers

Mark

Chaps, I will be up in Oxfordshire this week, near Wallingford. Count me in if there's a cheeky session on the cards!

I may not have access to a computer then though, so I'll give you a ring, Mickypee.....it's about time we caught up!!

Looking forward to this, cheers for now.

Lee

I reckon you are best placed to give it a go, you have some premises (kick out the other guy) and the knowledge. Your prices are good and your advice even better.

You can probably do it without too much risk as you wont be investing in too much more than you already have. That said new premises would have to be on the cards within 12 months. If it goes wrong, you look for a 9-5 job again, but at least you'd have piece of mind having tried it.

I will continue to use you either way when a job doesnt suit my slow working timescales for DIY.

My only concern is that your prices might go up !!

By the way, just finnished recon job on the chasis, sand down & paint then Waxoyled - took me ages, about 10 weeks i reckon, just doing it every now and then.

Hows your car ?

Dear Matt
According to David Geralds just about everything. The problem was that they devised a list of faults and just went straight ahead with the work without giving me an estimate (and they had promised to do so). To cut a long story short I had to depart with £2000 and this morning I was reversing out of my drive and the exhaust has dropped off!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
DG's had just put a new exhaust on for me.
So I'm not too happy at the moment and just about to give them a call.

I feel especially guilty as I could have popped over the hill to have a look at it with u before purchase if I'd known about you...

How did the chat with them go by the way... I'd have gone mental at someone for beginning work without authorisation... it also sounds a bit like "spring nockett" marketing to me if there was sudenly a huge list of problems.... LMK of you're overall impression of DG's as I've been toying with the idea of taking my S there...not so sure now..

Commiserations,
Matt.

Right I suppose I had better organise a drink a bit sharpish.

I am off Friday (commited for the evening), Saturday, Sunday and Monday.Sunday is perhaps the best day as my friend Pete Turnbull (S2) is available that day.

It could be Oxford way if so desired or nearer me (Chalfont St Giles) as there are lots of really good pub around this area.(also I can get the other half to pick me up!!=more beer!!)

All those who are interested let me know quickly so we can put something together.

Email me privately and I will give out my numbers etc.

Go for it Lee. As someone who has his own business the rewards and pros far outweigh the cons. The way to be successful, is simply to treat your clients as real people who have a passion. Sting them once and you'll never see them again. Look after them, and they'll keep coming back.
