Quite appropriate Richard. Thanks for that. However, after Austin's little fish & chip run, most of the dirt is on the outside.

Solution! This is a Jaguar interior light...
It is 130mm x 35mm. It does sit a bit higher than I wanted but it does have a concealed on/off switch. You just press the right hand section.
I'll now make a moulding to mount it to the vertical face of the hood rail and run the wires underneath this moulding and to the existing loom connection.
I could do with a 3-pin connector for the light if anyone has one but I expect that's a bit unlikely.
