Not sure what type of mirror without removing the door panel i guess? Its a late 89 S2 with S3 updates to it, so ?
One other thing, i seem to be missing something from the top of the steering column, like a switch or bulb or access panel, as there is a small shaped hole there...anyone able to tell me whats missing? Maybe a previous alarm led/switch or ??

1 - Have your mirrors got a corrugated section between them and the door. If so then they are the ball and socket type.

2 - The hole in the top of the steering column is for the hazard warning light switch. The cowls are from Ford Escort Mk2 and thats where you'll get the red illuminated switch from aswell.

Hope that helps...

cheers for the help Johno.....down to a scrapyard to hunt amongst the old Mk2's then ! Blimey, i haven't done that since i owned a 1600 sport one at 17.
i think my mirrors have the concertina effect between glass and door.

If you move the concertina part away from the door end then you'll see what I mean. One way to stiffen them back up is to remove the mirror and then place some form of medium in the socket to create friction and fill in the gaps. Can't thinl of one though I'd just buy a new one and stick it on.

Make sure you heat it up first and treat the socket with some Fairy Liquid to mak it easier...

If you mean the small hole in the covering at the top usually in front of the hazard switch, then this is just access to the screw holding it in place.

If you haven't got a hazard switch and the hole is bigger then I'm talking rubbish and johno is correct

Cheers,
John.

Well Johno and M@H, i picked up the 'S2' on friday afternoon all great fun and a very new experience....until half hour down the road, a kind woman driver, whilst admiring the rear of my car, decided to have too closer look and rear ended me!!

Gutted... the day I bought the 914, on the way home the wingnut spun off the thread at the bottom of the clutch cable and dissapeared on the M1 somewhere.. slightly disconcerting to go for the clutch after 50 miles of ownership whilst on the motorway, and find the pedals on the floor.... oh how I laughed... NOT...

Hmmm, this first day ownership shennanigans is more widespread than i thought !

Right then, now the insurance details are flowing, can anyone recommend where i go for quotes for the repair?..ie TVR friendly. I'm in NE Kent/SE London. How about PR Wood in Essex, as shown in back of Sprint.?

Ah, roof down this morning, country lanes and sunshine streaming in over the bonnet bulge and that exhaust note...bloody marvellous experience!...about the first time i've ever enjoyed driving to work !
