On way to Saturday run out to Chatsworth I drove to Chesterfield joined with the tvr crew to drive to Buxton. Then in the middle of Chesterfield the car just stopped. Traced fault to no fuel so called breakdown. Found the pump had 12v so gave it a few taps and away it went. Tried to go to Buxton but only made it to Chatsworth before it happened again. So eventually got it going and now in hotel puboclock. Will try to get to the meet tomorrow. The fuel pump was new 2000 miles ago frown

Sorry to hear it turned out to be the fuel pump!
I might be able to bring one to Chatsworth. Just off to check in the garage.
Tony.

cheers Glen end of your spare pump - hopefully I won't need it. After yesterdays tapping smash the pump and the car has ran almost faultlessly for 150 miles- home now. Will be taking it apart starting tomorrowish

Hi Mick, sorry to hear that. Did the pump stop running or was it 'buzzing' but not pumping? I guess you have probably tried to strip one of these before? Not possible to strip the electrics on mine but there is a small filter in the other end. I found that if I got the pump completely dry (I warmed it slightly) and tapped it with the filter end off I got a surprising amount of powder out. Not an issue any more as I now have a restored tank AND a top quality in line filter before the pump, but before that I had to clean the pump out a couple of times.
Your story has however reminded me to buy and carry a new pump, just in case. The current one is a bit noisier than I think it should be.

Apart from initial prime the pump is quiet. I haven't stripped one before, will look at it this week some time. It does have a filter so that'll be the first thing to check.
