Just spotted this one - looks like it would make a nice car. A good price too!

I've been lurking round this forum for a while...I'm about to dispose of my V8 MGB roadster, and live just round the corner from the old factory in Bispham, and have always thought that the V8S was a fabulous car.
All the V8S's I see appear to attract high prices in auction, knocking on 15K for average cars, but at same time a Ford engined car needing work goes for 1/3rd the price or even less.
My question...will a Rover V8 engine fit into the Ford cchassis without too much work ( I've already done 2 MGB conversions so I don't mind a bit of work ) ?
I went on the TVR stand at NEC in November, and the guy there seemed to think that the later cars shared much more in common, Douglas Breakers are only half an hour away from Blackpool, and seem to have a vast amount of interesting stuff in their yards.
Some of the the MG people can be a bit nerdy about retaining originality, so I don't mind being flamed here for that, I just fancy another Rover V8 powered car,

To be honest, I prefer the ( dare I say it? ) BMW E30? or Ford Maverick / Nissan Terrano or Kia Pride alternatives. They sit better, look more "finished" and are far less vulnerable than the Postman Pat van originals.
But that's just how I roll.

The only V6 cars to have the wide track, stiffened chassis akin to the V8 are the extremely rare and valuable S4 models. Quite a few people have re-engined their cars with other engines and the motors such as the Cosworth 2.9, the later 3.0 V6 from an S-type Jaguar and even Alans' Lexus V8. There does not seem to be any stigma in doing this in our world. In fact, there a quite a few of the later Sagaris etc. which now have Chevrolet LS1 motors.
However, my understanding is that none of these S projects are a simple nut and bolt job so it is not necessarily something you would do for financial gain, but if it were to give you lots of fun it would be a different matter.
Have you tried a six cylinder car? Not a fast as the eight on paper but very satisfying to drive with an exotic exhaust note. On long journeys you will overtake a V8 when it is stopped at the petrol station.
That should get you a few more replies from other forum members!

Now front indicator lenses, thats a different matter! edited to say, and don't mention pressure cap locations! Very true! Even more over-taking opportunities on short or twisty journeys when you can enjoy the glorious V8 roar for 15mpg On the EuroTours, the V8S will need almost half as much petrol again at each fill up as a V6 at the same cursing speeds.
The bottom line is, unless you are prepared to pay top money for a really good V8S, as an when/if one becomes available, you could pass up a wonderful V6 and miss out on some great motoring.

That rather depends on what "too much work" is. It'd be a lot of work and you'd have to chop the chassis about a bit (in the same places TVR did and for the same reasons) but all of the major tubes are in the same place.Whether it's worth the effort or not is another matter entirely though. Were I considering such a thing I'd be looking at the jag/ford/mazda v6 instead.

You won't find that much of that here, many of the cars have been modified mostly in small ways and mostly things that could be put back if you really wanted to but some are completely mental. You'd likely get some more flamey sorts of comments if you were to modify something badly or even dangerously.They are at the end of the day quite rare cars though and there's not a lot of point chopping one about when you could just buy one that's already like that.
At the rate I seem to be going through CV joints I think a slightly slower S wouldn't be a bad idea.
