They are supporting cups available from Burton Power. They a separate from the engine mount. Make sure the engine is square in the bay as the cups will squew the mounts and rip through them quickly.

From memory,( if only I could rely on it! ) Burton Performance FP292 engine mounts, FP292C support cups. 2 off each required.

Ford Capri/ Transit Pinto engine mounts 50mm* heavy duty.

HTH

  • or 52mm - even better. Every little helps. smile
Just checked.... My memory was correct. Wow! smile

Changing the mounts is a wonderful job, but you will enjoy it more if you equip yourself with a flexy-head 17mm ratcheting combination spanner. And univeral jointed wrists, plus a huge vocabulary of good old Anglo-Saxon swear words.
Feel free to let us know any new ones you may invent! biggrin

When I recently took the mounts off, I measured 47mm height, so probably these were originally 48-50mm. Maybe the 52mm is a little bit too much.

Hi,

How did you solve that the gear lever hit the console?

I'm planning to change my mounts and the Burton 52mm with cups may be a good option.

Kind regards

Wouldn't raising the engine cause the gear lever to pivot away from the centre console?

I changed my gearbox mount last year and it caused the lever mechanism to scrape the underside of the transmission tunnel, the problem only went away after I'd replaced the engine mounts.

The gear lever is aft of the box mount so when the engine was raised a couple of mm by the new engine mounts the lever dropped enough to stop it scraping the underside.

Worn mounts will sqew the transmission. If they all are worn evenly then the transmission will settle evenly.

The engine ones are easy to see if not to change. The gearbox is not so easy to inspect. If they are all worn thenthey all need to be changed.

Hi,

Just finished installing new mounts from RetroFord. They really needed changing. New ones are 50mm with stainless cup to stay in shape.

might struggle to have the nyloc to actually lock as the stud looks a bit short - better off with loctite
