Hi
Bit of a long shot but has anyone got a spare tacho for a V8S they would like to swap for some beer tokens, mine has given up the ghost?
Failing that can anyone recommend a good repair shop for his type of instrument?

Speedy Cables can do the work but they aren't in any way speedy.

Hi

Just a quick update re the failed Rev counter, I managed to get it sorted using a company called JDO Instruments in Keighley.

They were unable to repair the gauge but fitted a new electronic movement inside, still looks and functions the same with the same harness and plug.

Couldn’t fault the service, dropped it off on Tuesday afternoon and it was back in the car by Friday teatime all for the princely sum of £150 including express postage.

That seems like a good price just for the repair. If the price included removal and refitting, that's a bargain.

Just to clarify, the price was for removing the internals and fitting a new mechanism, it did not include removing the Rev counter from the car, I did that myself and took the unit to JDO.
Removing the tacho is not a big job, usually take less than 15 mins to remove either the tacho or the speedo (had a bit if practice recently!)

Speed Cables did a good job on mine but it did take 10 weeks! yikes
This is nothing out of the ordinary and some have experienced much longer than this. It seems to me that their business model needs a re-think, if they constantly have such a large back log. Perhaps they need additional staff, I don't know but 2.5 months doesn't seem acceptable. Or is it just me?

Only 2.5 months? You were very lucky: mine was sent to them Feb last year & finally came back end June (2016)after much threatening!
