It does look like your vehicle has a loom made to standard British colour codes, the below link may help you identify some of those unused cables/plugs
https://www.autoelectricsupplies.co.uk/cms/files/c...

You are lucky to be able to check through that fusebox without too much difficulty, your vehicles fusebox has wires running directly from the fuses and relays, a more modern day fusebox has many internal circuits and they can be a nightmare to check through

Is there a possibility that a switch has been added to the windows circuit to immobilise them?

Good luck in trying to find the other end of the green cable

Thank you.

I did drop the the fuse box and found the problem. The prevoius owner had cut the green Power line and just dropped it. That probably means that there is a problem further down the line and the mirrors blew the fuse.

By the way the Electric mirrors run of the "Warning Lights" fuse, 10A. ( I blew one also...)

I will try to measure further down to see if I can isolate the error.

Mystery solved,

Previous owner ad disconnected 12V power as a result of blowing fuses.

That turned out to be due to completely wrongly wired joystick and also the L/R switch. That short circuited the entire part and blew the fuse.

The brilliant schematics from the Wedge mirrors made it easy to rewire and now it all works. Mine is wired exactly so and even the cable colours match.

I will try to forget about the 8 (eight !!) non connected connectors and just put all the cables back and put her together again.

Next week she will get an all new exhaust and then off to the road with all new road holding gear and working wing mirrors.

Happy S3 owner
