How are you finding the quality of the cable? Because I've got one from Burton's and it's not great. It's very dry inside, which might not be an issue on a Sierra, but on the S it makes for very jerky progress!Had to do a simple but pleasant amount of refettling to make it fit.

Drill hole in one end. Trial fit to pedal box, fully depress throttle and mark position for second hole. Remove and drill second hole. Slot first hole, using a file, to provide adjustment. Fit bolt in second hole using 2 nuts (PHOTO 2).
Assemble to pedal box, (PHOTO 3).
Jobs a goodun.
Like this a lot, just done the same with some minor tweeks. My suspicion is that an ORIGINAL original Ford cable would have been much stronger than any of the aftermarket items. The stop on the linkage at the engine end is quite sufficient!

Yes, but if you don't have a stop on the pedal, you put needless pressure on the cable if you floor it (which you have to in an V6S....snigger). Mine never did! The only stop was the floor!!And a quoted 6.9 seconds 0-60mph is quite sufficient for this old guy (and his better half).
If I were you I'd have a spare cable with you.
You are relying on the fitting on the end of the cable taking all the strain from your leg input when pushing the peddle to full throttle.
Almost all S owners have snapped cables at some time due to there being no mechanical stop for the peddle.

I agree with Mentall. I don't have any pedal stop and I don't need one. When I push to full throttle, I don't need a concrete bloc to stop my foot. I'm smart enough to stop pushing when I feel a little resistance in the pedal. In fact I never push violently to full throttle, I push gently on it. Same thing with the gear stick, the clutch pedal etc. I love mechanics, so I respect it.

agreed, but even with mechanical sympathy, the cable and ends are over 30 years old.I don't think I have ever snapped a throttle cable in more than 50 years of motoring and rally driving.
