Essential boot spares?
Discussion
After booking to go on the Rusty Nail Run in September, it occurred to me that although I carry a load of essential tools (inc DVM) in the boot. I carry very few spares!
I think it was something Keith said about spares that has reminded me. So with a potential 700+ mile trip looming for the 350i and 390se Cannock based Wedges. What do you think we should have in the boot besides the AA card? :-)
Coil
Spare HT lead or two
Fuel Pump
Relays & Fuses
Ignition Amp?
This is something I should have done a long time ago but unlike nearly every other classic I've owned. I just never thought about it for the TVR?
Cheers Karl

Ignition amp
Couple of spark plugs
Multi-meter for fault finding
4 spark plug spark detectors http://www.screwfix.com/p/laser-ht-lead-ignition-s...
Assorted box of wires, connector spades etc of all sizes
Radiator pressure cap and blanking cap
A dozen different bits and sizes of hoses, especially fuel hose and top rad hose
Full set of spare bulbs and spare fuses

Whilst i agree with duct tape, tools, tie raps and etc.
If anything else bothers you. Change it before you go and leave the boot free for your targa top.

It goes without saying if the roof Isn't in the boot. I ain't going!
I love this car MORE than any other vehicle I have ever owned. But if the roof needs to be up. I'm not driving it.
Bl@@dy awful with the roof up"!
Cheers KY.

To be honest I packed all of the above spares, plus two socket sets, large tool bag, space saver, jack, wheel brace, four workshop manuals (Steve Heath Bible, Cortina Mk4, Granada Mk2, Rover SD1), large and colourful metric spanner set, SLR camera, targa roof panel, fleece, waterproof and squishy weekend bag all in the Wedge boot last weekend, and still had space for Leigh Jones' large carrier bag of shiny products to the Ragley Hall run out, without any issues. Them boots are larger than you think. It goes without saying if the roof needs to be in the boot. I ain't going!

Roof on for me I'm afraid ..... well it is a FHC.
After last years RNR, a long piece of 'string' or similar, long enough of course to allow both you and your passenger to take turns at pulling each end to allow the windscreen wiper to sweep the screen after the securing nut worked loose.
RNR a great event, looking forward to it again.

For BBWF, I took:
Dizzy cap, rotor arm and HT leads
Set of spark plugs
Ignition Amp
CTS
Coil
2 litres coolant
2 litres water
2 litres oil
1 litre ATF
Assorted tools and full socket set
Various fuses, bulbs and electrical connectors
Multimeter
Roll of Gorilla tape
Compressor
Tyre Weld
Jack
Cable ties, disposable gloves and some rags etc.
And what went wrong? I lost nearly all my clutch fluid due to a weeping master cylinder (thanks to billynobrakes and Number 7 for tops ups) and then I had a split heater hose (thanks to Number 7 for the self-amalgamating tape and pk500 for the jubilee clips).
Whatever you take, it won't ever be what you need!!

personally I would get together with a couple of others and make a list of everything you would WISH to take and then split it between the 3 of you. Then travel as a small group within the main group. That way not only will you be able to take more tools / spares but also have more boot space at the same time (should even be able to take a trolley jack)
Just take a spare Wedge...
Here is my boot..Running a bit low on some things though...
Oh and the stuff underneath the stuff...
There is spark plugs...2 x working FPR...fuel hose...Spare relays...Bulbs...Tool kit..Oil & Water...Gasket sealant ...spare clips and cable ties...Heat shrink...Thermometers,,,Cleaning gear..Tyre-weld...Connectors...Wire...Gas soldering iron..Multi-meter..24 hr rations and an emergency GPS Tent and blanket...Flare gun...Inflatable Kayak ...life jacket and shark repellent..oh and a change of undies as you never know...
