Well maybe maybe not !

I was allowing for the seat to tip forwards when I measured it for height and it is just about impossible to get an accurate measurement even using a laser on my own. So best I could get is would you believe it 987mm from the heighest point to the fluff of the carpet when you have it forward. However in a normal seating/ driving position they are about 20mm lower as the pivot position is about 200mm (didn't measure that) from the floor.

So the long and short of it is that I think you could get them in but the top of the headrest may interfere with the hoop if you have the back at 90deg to the base. Also they may not tip forward - but you have no rear seats so who cares!

The base is 19 inches at the front and 18 inches at the back without the handle.

The ones in the picture are not quite the same as have wings and are from a later car. However the seat frame looks identical as the car has the same chassis and other internal dimensions.

Might be worth a punt if they are cheap enough and I guess you could always sell them on if they don't fit.

Hi BuzzIt,

I have passed on them so far.

I may take the car up there and try in reality. I will be a close call in height.

They are like new but NOT cheap. They are asking £1300 for the pair.

But they look real nice!!

Kind regards

Wow that's not cheap !

I bought a whole interior in leather for £160 from an S5, leather B8 seats with full electrics and door panels! The front seats would probably fit and cheaper than a re-trim.

There are plenty of cheaper ones on eBay and like I said, I don't think they age particularly.

Where abouts are you anyway - doesn't say on your profile, if you want more help may be worth adding a location......probably better update mine.

The S is similar in seat space and height to a Chimaera I believe.

My Chimaera friends have tried MX5 seats, Lotus Elise seats, Cerbera seats and even Jag XJS seats.

I have Tuscan seats in mine.

My roll hoop fits under my targa hoop, so while I don't have a targa hoop in this photo, you can see they fit height-wise. Tuscan seats do come up from time to time, and I find them comfortable. Unlike the Chimaera seats, I can rest my head on the head rest of the Tuscan seats and I am 6 ft.

I live near Newark on Trent, so if anyone wants to try a Tuscan seat for fit before looking for some, just let me know and I will break out the spanners. It's only 4 bolts.....
Or I can measure them for you.

More photos:

Half way through fitting

And fitted both sides

The main issues I found with most seats are
1. They are too wide at the base
2. The seat bases are too deep, so you end up too high in the car
3. They are too wide at the shoulder.

Hi,

Thank you for all input.

Lowering the floor seems like a rather drastic thing to attempt... Or maybe that is just another way of saying that I'm not good enough with GRP work to dare to try... Has anyone done this?

It would at least move the lowest point of the car from the exhaust to my rear end….

Tuscan seats look real comfortable but a bit “modern” for the older style S-series in my opinion. They look more at home in a Chimera and the newer cars.

Would the Cerbera seats fit?

How about the newer T350 or Tamora seats, would they fit?

Maybe I just have to try to find a pair of worn Chimera seats and ask the local “upholstery man” to add some lateral support and redo them.

My S3 is Grey interior and I always wanted a Tan or Cognac interior so maybe it is time to change over. However, my car is in pretty decent condition so it does not need any of it, so for now she stays Grey. The cost for ripping out the entire interior including the carpets just to change colour does not make sense at this point. And it does not improve speed or handling  .

I’m not UK based, but who in the UK is breaking TVR’s? Or were do one find used TVR seats?

All input much appreciated

Kind regards

Where are you?

Your best bet may be to put a post on here, or on the Chimaera group on Faceache, or both, asking if any Chimaera owners have seats they want to sell.
I did have some to sell after going Tuscan, but when I met another Chimaera owner with really grotty seats I agreed to sell him mine.

A number of owners at any one time are doing Cerbera or Tuscan seat conversions on Chimaeras, so will have Chimaera seats available for sale.

To answer one of your other questions, Cerbera seats do fit in a Griff or Chim and are well liked by those who have adopted them. Central TVR will do you a pair to your choice of colour, but it is arm and a leg time. And my friend Matthew Poxon did find he needed to re-profile the seat base to avoid being too high in the car.

You can read all about it here:

https://matthewpoxon.wordpress.com/

Click on Cerbera seats on the right hand side, or settle down and read the whole lot - he writes well and illustrates his posts with lots of photos.

Audi TT seats fit, I remember trying Heath's from X works at a track day they were very comfortable but iirc they have to be fitted in a fixed position which may be a drawback.
