I used a new universal steering rack gaiter
I don’t think a gaiter will help mine. Looks like the retaining seal on the ball has snapped and so there’s obvious play in my ball...

Right - have bought the spacer version of a quick shift to give it a go. Looks like some irreversible surgery required....

Anybody fitted a quick shift from Kischki and have their old original lever they’re prepared to part with?

I fitted a spacer version but found it stopped the reverse lock out from working. Result, every junction was a gamble! I guess it could have been fine tuned but I couldn't figure out how.

I pulled the thing out and don't find the long throw any kind of problem, plus I can't get into reverse without pushing down on the gear stick, so that's a bonus.

Anti rattle bearing, I purchased one to see. Not fitted it yet.
With a bit of measuring it appears to be this one.

Good find. Let us know if it works. I’m sure mine will need one.

The eBay link doesn’t work anymore. Was it the same item.

you are right...it still worked a few days ago...but now not anymore.

it was the same bearing as from 123 bearings

at the end of the day a bearing is a standadized parts for industrial use....nothing "specifically" made for this application.

you can buy them at your local bearing- and industrial products shop, you just need to give them the correct code.

I wonder if this bearing ever worked. Not quite sure where it’s supposed to go though even if it did. Is it on the later S models only?????
