And a ropey V8. I suppose if the pound continues to take a battering someone from mainland Europe might be tempted but for something that needs a full restoration I would say this is double where it should be. Any thoughts?

I fancy rebuilding a V8 next, but I can get half decent Chimp for that money (I will wash my mouth out later of course).

The do a proper job* you'd be looking at another £7k to £10k on top of that for money you might as well buy a really nice one and enjoy in straight away.

  • Paint & engine rebuild alone would take up most of that. Then you've got the interior, chassis, suspension etc to deal with and of course a new hood at approx £800 (DIY a bit less but it's not easy.

If the condition of either would have added to the value the photos would be there.

Well done! As one of the outstanding jobs is to bolt the body on would it be worth lifting the body when you get it to check everything is as it should be?

Well done geo, don't worry about taking a leap in the dark. I've bought a couple of dozen cars, moderns and classic, sight unseen - including a forty five year old MGB GT (in need of work but MOTd) that I drove 150 miles home.

These beasts are great to work on and Ford bits are tough as old boots and simple to source as the cars to which they were attached just rotted around them!

Tidy looking car in a nice colour scheme, says unrestored but has had new trailing arms. Be interesting to see the outrigger condition on it.

I think when I buy an S1 next spring I may consider blue (although yellow is number 1, followed by white smile )

Low mileage and looks as if chassis already been done, or it’s in remarkably good condition and never driven in the wet.

"Minor damage to section of vinyl, " roflrofl

Ten quids worth of vinyl and many, many hours of labour to replace. I wonder how you go about "door card requires rewiring ". Would it involve relays? laugh

Worth a look though for anyone in the market.

I take it that's the car in Stratford? A friend and I went to look at this during the auction and spotted a few things. I tried to email you about it through PH but your account doesn't accept emails.
