All extra work, you going to get them re blasted and then paint or powder coated
A few layers of paint. I'm unhappy with the powder coating and there were only a couple of tiny rust like blemishes, I had been in two minds as to whether to investigate or not. Obviously glad I did. Judging by the abuse I gave some of the chassis tubes when jacking the car and that did not produce any rust, I'll stick with paint.
Oh and I'm welding 'jacking' strips to protect the tubing.

There is several types of powder coating. TVR used the cheapest one, only one layer of polyester powder. The layer is UV and water proof, but as soon as you have a little hole is the layer, the rust can run under the layer. And frequently, the rust was already under the powder coating. If you want something durable on a car chassis, you have to ask for a 3-layer treatment (known as triplex powder coating). The first layer is a zinc powder to give a cathodic protection. The second layer use an Epoxy powder for the barrier effect, and the last layer use a polyester powder for it's UV resistance (no colour distortion) and water resistance.
But as you wrote, you can also use paint. I would advice to use an Epoxy paint for the fist layer.
Exhausting work today. Temporary mounted the diff, propshaft and exhaust box to see how to route the twin 2" pipes from the box to the rear end. Needed to remove the chassis cross member in front of the tank and loose the ends of the unused diff mounting. The crossmember will be replaced 2"higher and a pair of vertical struts to reinforce that area. Means the exhaust will be above the lower edge of the chassis with the only exemption being the silencer which hangs about 5mm lower even after using a press to flatten it a little .
