If the original lasted 25+ years with nowt but a bit of black powdercoat I wouldn't worry too much about it!
Lols i wish it had!! Looking at the notes my new one will be servo number 4 it was last changed in 2010 and is almost falling apart (but still functioning)

All that said its looked hottible for 5 years now so want to do something.. i have some raptor so may as well give it a go smile

I want to do the bias valve and master cylinder too. Brake gray iirc for those or maybe just use the raptor.

I want it to be pretty.

Cheers

Just a thought for anyone interested, you could take the servo off clean, prep and paint/protect before it's too late and you won't
have all this hassle.
Also you should be able to fit it 180° round so the old top (exellent condition) will now be at the bottom, providing the air hose can fit now at the bottom. Not with the car at the moment so cant check if anything is in the way to make this possible.

I'm surprised they're failing so quickly. Does your car have wheel arch liners fitted?

Got my new servo. Will try to fit weekend and report back. Very close but some things don't measure up perfectly but this is the TVR I've come to know like many of you have got to know yours.

Hi, did you manage to get the servo to fit? If so which one was it. I may need one in the near future so will keep an eye out.

Yes looks like i definitely need one, something is leaking out of the bottom! Its the ford one i suspect as master cylinder and reservoir are all attached and not separate. Ford on the reservoir as well. Anyone seen a cheapish one out there?

Is this worth a punt? Not sure if the RS one is different?

I cannot be sure without actually comparing them however the master cylinder diameter and cylinder ports do seem correct. Without looking at the full TRW parts list (haven't got the time right now) it does look as if the 1800cc Fiesta does have the correct arrangement. If you had a Ford servo before it should be a direct fit, but PLEASE check the exact dimensions INSIDE, the length of the pushrod in the servo relative to the position of the piston in the master cylinder and the port positions is crucial.
If you had a SAAB one before it will fit but will have to be rotated to get the reservoir at the top, which means re-drilling the bulkhead. There is a template for doing that on Pistonheads. If you cant find it get back to me.

a related question: i have removed my breaking system and the servo is good, clean and works well but the master cylinder is shot. With the list of things growing i don't want to buy a new one from TVR Parts but how important is the size? ie springs/ size of piston etc? if i spend the day in the breakers do i only need to find one that matches bolt pattern/reservoir alignment? or is there more to it than that.

The bore diameter is all important. Yours should be 22mm, a lot of simlar looking master cylinders are 20mm.

It's all about the amount of fluid moved per millimetre of piston travel.

I am not sure how 'shot' your master cylinder is? If the cylinder itself is OK then you will find there are rebuild service kits still available. Just google Fiesta master cylinder repair kit. But as Philpott said above, it MUST be the 22.2mm version. Some Fiesta models have 20mm, some 22.2. Ask the supplier to check. If it is a complete cylinder you need then you will have to be very careful to get the right one. I did notice on ebay that this supplier appears to have both types in stock BUT you must check bore size with the supplier.
