Hi guys

Not specifically S related but my 1991 S3c is going in for a pre-MOT service tomorrow (got a couple of small jobs I need doing too) and I was wondering whether I need to put the spare tyre and tools in the boot to pass the MOT?

Stupidly (or not) I haven't been carrying them with me!!

Thanks guys

Nick

I suspect that if you have a spare, it will need to be in serviceable condition. But there's no requirement to carry a spare.

As somebody pointed out above, the spare is not covered by the test.

Thanks for the response. The spare is perfectly serviceable but it's just not secured in the boot at present. Was hoping it wouldn't fail the MOT by not being there...

The spare isn't part of the test. The tester wont care whether or not the spare is there, and if it is there, they wont care about condition.

However, it is there and you have a puncture and use it, it must be road worthy, i.e. legal tread and excessively perished, or Mr. Plod may be having a quiet word.

this is correct and almost all modern cars do not carry a spare wheel and some do not have a wheel well to take one.
