Gents, got a few jobs planned in on the S2 i purchased a couple of months back, any tips / things to avoid would be great. I'm no expert in this field but will always give something a go.

Oil & filter change - Looks like im gonna go with Valvoline VR1 20-50. Was gonna get 2 x 5l's, assume this will be enough? Again i dont really have a clue! smile. Is the filter tricky to remove? Anything else to be aware of?

Bonnet adjustment - On the drive home I realised the swirl pot cap was fouling on the bonnet (prev owner had just installed a new SP), I need to raise the bonnet say 1cm at the front, assume just need a mate to help whilst i loosen the brackets on each side and lift to an acceptable position?

Cheers

Joe

Hi,

The information you need is in a cracking spreadsheet located in the useful links, capacity is 4.7l, see the last tab.

The oil filter is pretty hard to access, you will need a filter wrench rather than the socket type. I bough a filter from euro car parts look up 501745168 -£4.50 ish depending on this week's offer.

It's probably worth changing the fuel filter unless it's been done recently and checking the coolant (though don't mix pink with blue).

It seems odd that the swirl pot is hitting the bonnet, have you checked it's all fitted correctly? If not an adjustment is probably best, a Jack and z good friend will be handy, soak the bolts in penetrating oil for as long as you can before you attempt it.

Good luck!

Thanks for that !smile Looks like its fitted ok though??, the prev owner also had the bonnet off for a while so may be due to that?

You can do it on your own using a trolley jack under the middle of the front valance. Support the weight of the bonnet, slacken everything off, tweak it up a bit and go from there.
