Noise Limits on Track Days...
Discussion
I've stared a thread, named as above in the Track Days forum.. www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=17980&f=18&h=0
Would you guys care to contribute any figures you've got from a noise test, so I've an idea what noiselevel to expect from my S.. ?
much appreciated..

It is covered in the 2nd ed S bible and in the noise FAQ on my website. The figures were taken from a lot of MSA measurements from cars that sprinted and so are pretty close.

Keep chipping away at him Steve, he might just crack
My S3 has always tested between 95 and 98db at sprints over the past 2 years. It has been decatted and baffles removed from rear box. However over the last 2 months the baffle located between the downpipes and the rear box has gradually disintegrated resulting in a test figure at the Hethel sprint Aug 4th of 104db. Oddly it was tested in the queue just before my last run... 102db was the limit... bit late by then though
Had the exhaust fixed at Offords last week and I can't remember it ever sounding better. Hopefully it's back down to the 98db region.
