Stainless don’t seem to be a option. Hardened Chrome listed.

I have a complete set of original front callipers/pistons from my V8s (240mm discs) if you want them. I did the 280mm upgraded so they are now surplus. They were in full working condition when I removed them a year ago. Any surface rust has only appeared over the time they have been removed.

The advantage of stainless steel pistons is that they won't rust and have the chrome flake off as can happen with chromed steel pistons. This is much more of a problem with cars that sit unused for periods of time, like I suspect most of our cars. I have stainless steel pistons in the brakes on my race car, an old formula ford with Triumph Spitfire calipers. The originals had chrome that was starting to flake off. I made them myself in 1994 and they are still fine.

I wouldn't get hung up about stainless pistons (particularly if you're on a budget), yes they are nice but thousands of cars running around quite happily on chromium plated ..... imho smile

Wow that would be fantastic, they are in much better condition than mine, I don’t even know if mine are ok or not never having the car on the road. I’ll PM you. Thanks so very much.

Massive thank you to EDV8S, your generosity has been mind blowing. You said you you were pleased they were going to a good home, I can verify that they certainly have. Brass brushed one of them and look at the result, like a new new calliper, I fee like the luckiest man on the planet.

You’re welcome Lee. They are looking a lot better now than when I had them. Good luck with the rebuild.

Painted the callipers, A bit of bling for the S1. Need to let the paint harden for a week before re-building.

VHT anodised colour coat. It was to to do my rockers, but thought it would look good in these too.

Be a shame to put a body over it all. Long way to go yet.
