Now there's an offer too good to refuse The advantage of stainless steel pistons is that they won't rust and have the chrome flake off as can happen with chromed steel pistons. This is much more of a problem with cars that sit unused for periods of time, like I suspect most of our cars. I have stainless steel pistons in the brakes on my race car, an old formula ford with Triumph Spitfire calipers. The originals had chrome that was starting to flake off. I made them myself in 1994 and they are still fine.
