Good to see how you’re progressing. Hopefully the finish line will be in sight soon. thumbup
Any luck finding a windscreen yet?
Thanks, Body nearly ready for etch primer, have to remove some of the engine bay bits. Just trying to get the dash off today. Then hopefully convince missus to go to the classic car show at Tatton Park. No joy on windscreen yet, There was an original one in America for sale but with shipping not viable.

I don't know how much you're expecting to pay for the screen ; but this "project car" seems to have a complete one, and looks likely to stay cheap. It's so far gone that it seems doubtful whether anyone would take it on as a restoration. Maybe it would be worth buying for the screen and any other parts you need, and then re-sell the rest :

Thanks for the reply. I saw that. Unfortunately I’m losing the warehouse space soon and only have garage space for 1 car. I did contact autoglass when I first got the car (about 3 years ago now), they still supplied them then, once respray is done I’ll put some effort into sourcing a screen. Priority to get respray done so can put body back onto chassis at moment.

I quite liked the metallic silver and considered a colour change, I am trying to keep the car as original as I can, but having said that I have gone for the Starmist Mica Blue, like the picture attached. It’s more metallic than the original paint which looks a flat blue, but thought it deserved a little Botox after being neglected.

I ordered the etching primer, high build primer, paint and lacquer from a single source for compatibility. Lacquer is to be applied within an hour of the paint for ultimate adhesion, so will get all done at the same time. All paint materials bought from Advanced paints, very helpful company who have been very helpful in selecting the correct primers etc and list TVR colours.

Prepping car and sanding by hand takes a good while, glad I bought a long flexi block.

I have a new, heated screen in my store awaiting commencement of the Reserve restoration.

Happy to talk supply if you're willing to order a replacement to be shipped to me.

Screen is in S London.

ETA: planning on doing the TVRCC trackday at Cadwell in September and Donnington Park in August.

That’s a very very kind offer. I’m not in any mad rush just at moment as plenty to do yet. Where did you buy it from??

As per magpies thread. They recommended them to me.
As previous post. I’ll give them a buzz soon as I get the shell painted.

Note to self. Don’t buy a fibreglass car that needs bodywork doing. Looking a bit sorry for itself at moment.

Body painted, chassis 99% ready for body back on, few rubbers to add to stop chassis rubbing. Tank to mount and new 5mm rubber for chassis arriving today.

Going to add some weight to front and back as using rubber bushes and they don’t allow free movement like poly bushes.

Engine bay components refurbed ready to be re-installed (just waiting on new springs for the pedal box, TR7 ones, hope they are strong enough as ones I bought previously were too weak).

Feels like we are getting somewhere now. Maybe we will be on road one day soon.

The boxes of bits is certainly going down which is a really encouraging and so nice to see them on the car.

It must have been sat outside due to the amount of things that were rusting inside and out. Removing them and refurbing every bit takes forever. Got a few front end and engine bits to do, bit of fibreglassing to damaged and redundant holes etc. interior, hood, windscreen, finish the wheels off.

The missus has agreed to recolour the interior bits, so that’s a bonus. First time anyone has helped me with anything.

Body will be back on this weekend, lost the warehouse where it was stored and new tenants move in Monday, Having somewhere you can grind and bang until whatever time you want and at weekends was a real bonus.

Never seen the car running, so no doubt that will be another challenge.

My mid life crisis buy has certainly been a challenge.

Starmist Mica Blue. See it better in this photo. Same as original but metallic.

I bring the body in relatively level, then as lower onto chassis, the back sits on the shocker supports so naturally dips the front, then I can put weight on the front end to make it dip more until the tunnel is trapped by the front of the chassis. Then lift a little and wiggle it forward.

I do this on my own, and have so about 6 times during the rebuild process. A little more carefully when chassis and body painted, but simple enough.

I was lucky as had space to be able to lift high, swing the body and move the chassis etc.

You can see in this photo the rear sling is slightly tauter than the front, so back lifts first.

Bit more progress on refurbing and fitting the engine bay bits. Starting to take shape now. Injectors got new seals and need fitting and then plenum bolting down.

Looking good. You’re getting there.
Is it me or is the plenum on round the wrong way? Inlet should go to nearside.
Thanks.
Yeah it’ll is. Just plonked it on top as I’d finished for the day. Got to put the injectors back in first. Well spotted.

I like the colour, it realy suits the S. Will you refit the side stripes?
It’s a Starmist Mica Blue. Very close to the original But metallic. Definitely putting the stripes back, sent etching, photos and dims to the guy who sells them on FB before I removed the old ones, Was very responsive at first but now won’t answer my messages, I’ll keep trying him as he says he had the emblem etc but not the full imagery for the S1. I think the stripes against the blue look nice.
