Tank Cradle stripped back to metal, remarkably good condition if it is the original. Primed ready for paint.

Ok. So the shocks are refurbed and proudly have new rubber bushes. Bushes from a Triumph TR6 and cost £2.50 each, they need a little manipulation and shaving once installed, but happy with the end result. My quest to find rubber bushes for the front and back arms continues as they are all different sizes.

Hi Lee, nice to see you are still progressing with this. Are the bushes you used for the shocks Triumph suspension arm bushes? Pretty sure that's what I used in the front arms of the S3, can't remember exactly which but found on ebay (could maybe find some notes if you struggle). For the rear arms I used a Land Rover series spring shackle bush, shortened accordingly and the bolt was also Land Rover spring shackle.

HTH,
Carl.

Carl, the ones I got are from a TR6, thanks for the heads up on the Landrover bush, was looking at them. Did you split it in half and push in from both sides?

Kept as one piece and just shortened one end, pushed in okay in a large vice, probably due to paint rather than powder coat and no corrosion. Been in a few years now and haven't moved.
If you didn't feel they were tight enough you could fit with some bearing lock or something but as I say mine went in fairly easily and haven't moved.

Hadn’t realised they were metalastic bushes with steel sleeve on the outside. When I extracted them it was just the rubber that came out, and corrosion was concealing the outer sleeve. Do you remember if it was the front or rear Landrover shackle bushes, I think the are different lengths, but I suppose if you have to cut them it doesn’t really matter.

Your a star. Thanks. As Adrian implies in that post my bush came out in 2 halves with an obvious hand saw cut. Will source some of the Landy 569746 and give them a shot.

Doesn’t get much more cost effective than this. Bolt and nut £1.20 extra.

Looks like a poly version available for £10 per side if preferred, and must be easier to fit. Think I’ll stay original rubber.

Carl. What did you do for front wishbones, I think the ones I sourced for the shocks will fit the uppers, bit lower are smaller diameter. They are available on a few TVR specialist sites in rubber, so maybe I should just take that option, just look pricey for what they are. Thanks. Lee
