Agree with mrufcs1 above. On the 2.8 it certainly looks as if the throttle operation is designed for operation from the left. There are actually THREE springs on my S throttle. There is 1. A spring under torsion in the actual throttle spindle. 2. A coils spring under compression axial with the cable itself and 3. A coil spring under tension between cable mounting and throttle arm. The unusual two lever throttle operation on the K Jet needs it. You might find one tiny modification helpful; the simple addition of a cable guide (loose, as used on motorcycle fork cables) fixed to the plenum chamber has certain helped keep a consistent good throttle cable angle. (There is also a tiny mod on mine to keep the throttle cable outer in the mounting securely).
I would love to re-design the whole thing but a couple of attempts on paper suggested it wasn't going to be easy to get it right.

(As you may see from photos my car lives outside and there is a b-----y birch tree next to it. This has been a top year for birch seeds and they get EVERYWHERE!!)
